My father was in Government run Health Care in the US during the early 1970s. It run by the Veterans Administration. He was at a hospital in Oakland. When I visited him as a boy what I remember was the screaming of the patients. The nurse told me the patients were always doing that. I have seen government health care, it sucks
I will gaurantee you one thing. No one from America is going to Canada for health care but they dam sure come here.
I live in an area of the south where Canadians vacation in the winter mainly to play golf because of the great courses we have in the area. I also have a friend that has a family medical practice in the area. I have met a handful of Canadians that say the health care in Canada is terrible if you have a medical problem. My friend says he treats quite a few of them in his office. They have also had some call ins on our local talk radio and the Canadian callers confirm what I say.
Like I’ve mentioned. I’ve known plenty of people who were sick that got the care they needed. I’m sure there are people who aren’t happy with Canada’s health care. But I’ve never met one. And I’m a Canadian who lives in Canada. Not some American who met a few Canadians. And let me tell you. I’m happy I don’t live in America. I owe mine and my family’s health to my country.
If you are in urgent need of care you are in trouble in Canada. I know several people that come to my area on vacation in the winter time. They also get their health care taken care of while they are here and pay out of pocket for it. They tell me its terrible in Canada and hope it does not happen here. Its OK if you are healthy but god help you if you get sick.
My father never had to wait for treatment. Although there isn’t much treatment availible for ALS. But they provided him with all the equipment needed like resporator, a computer to talk for him and a place to stay. Cancer patients wait time usually depends on the patients health. You may be right though. Canada’s population is much lower.
How long did he have to wait? And America is one hell of a lot more populated than Canada and we are overwhelmed with big government bureaucracy.
I’ve had several people in my family who have had cancer and my father had ALS. They all recieved the treatment and equipment they needed. I’ve also had to use the emergency room several times myself for various sicknesses and injuries. And they took me in right away and treated me. I have no complaints. Keep in mind. I don’t live in America.
If you think the federal government will take care of you when you get sick you are the one that is STUPID. Not only u r stupid you are BRAIN DEAD.

micsc50, you can still buy your health care and have it between you and your doctor. The Obama plan doesn’t change anything for you. The Obama plan has a public OPTION (that means choice). You don’t have to take the public option. You can keep your health insurance just as it is. Nobody is trampeling your rights, your dissillusioned. You aren’t even paying a dime for this new health care unless you’re making over $250,000/year. So, you complain yet you don’t pay anything.
I am not misinformed you are. I want Obama to stay out of my health care business. He is violating the constitution of this great country. He is trampling on my rights. Buying up manufacturing co.insurance co. and banks. Now he wants to take over our health care. ****** did the same thing when he took over germany. **** the **** democRATS they can mind their own business. Just because greedy idiots like yourself don’t like the idea because you’re brainwashed and uninformed. Is no reason for people in America not to recieve treatment with little cost. We have the rest of the industrialized world as a model. There are many different ways to insure everyone has access to health care. But leaving the solution to the insurance industry is no solution. The operate in a for profit environment. Paying for your treatment is never in their best financial interest, ever. This is America. It is our shame that we do not provide health care for all our own people. You don’t want a public option? Regulate insurance companies as if they were utilities.
Fuck Barack Obama, **** BIG PHARMA!!!, who Obama is in talks with as we speak, from what I’ve heard, and **** his government healthcare bullshit. Every time I hear ANYTHING regarding government healthcare, be it from supporters or people who **** it, I have to control myself to keep from punching something.
Sure, our current healthcare system is a joke, and it needs to be reformed, nobody is arguing that point, but having the government decide on healthcare is the LAST thing we want happening.

Why is noone talking about the law suits that insurance companies have to cover. I just talked to a lady today that is suing the local hospital for 8 mil. This is not a new concept. So who has to pay out for that? The hospital? not likely they don’t have that kind of cash. Investors? Nope they are a third party with no legal obligations. The insurance comp. flits the bill. Unfortunately the bill gets passed on. The comp. can’t absorb that kind of loss so up go rates. Where is personal
It did nothing because the economy has been in shambles ever since. Obama is a failure. The stimulus was nothing but the democRATs paying for their left wing pet projects.
