US President Barack Obama has spent much of his first months in office urging Congress to approve a sweeping reform of the country’s health care system, but progress has been painfully slow. Our guests in the US and in Paris explain why.

You need to ask the question: why can’t people afford health care in the first place. This is because health insurance companies have lobbied Washngton and increased the price of drugs and healthcare way more than inflation. Your argument about affording healthcare and looking after yourself doesn’t equate. People working hard on minimum wage can’t afford healthcare because insurance companies charge far more than is justified for the sake of profit. You cannot tell me this is a just system.
All that I am saying is that while we might achieve an increase in our national coverage from 84% to 98% every one is missing the larger point. It wont be free! Taxes will explode! I know for a fact that I make more working in the US than some one in the same profession in Germany, France or Italy. I also know that I have far more disposable income. Why would I trade that in to cover people who cant afford their own health care? Shouldnt I only have to pay for my self? I think thats fair.
Well I guess you can watch your taxes go up to 25% for your income, 20-50% for sales tax and you can expect to pay $10.50 for a gallon of gas. And.. AND lets top that off with every socialized heath care country admitting that the cost of health care still is dragging their nations into bankruptcy. I have been told personally by German health care workers that their entire system will collapse because they cant afford the cost even with taxes that are 150% higher than in the US.
Her fucking here! Thanks for your comment. I am so sick of the propaganda garbage. the doctor is afraid people’s premiums will go up if the public option comes about? What a fucking *******. The very old man he is treating has 12,000 dollar a year medical bills. Makes me sick-literally!
Why is it that every time Americans have had a chance at health care reform the airwaves & sources like Utube become saturated with propaganda fighting it.
We’ve heard the insurance companies would fight reform tooth & nail, could this be actual evidence of it?
The profit motive for developing new drugs & med. technology depends on patent laws, not on whether HC insurance co’s are allowed to keep their monopoly.
